There is no definitive ‘best’ first car, as every insurance company has their own set of rules when working out how much to charge for car insurance. However, we can give you a few tips to help you get a better car insurance deal.

* Get a car with a small engine, for example a 1.1 litre rather than a 1.6 litre, which is normally in a lower insurance group rating. You’ll also tend to pay less road tax for a small engine car.
* Stick to a basic or mid range specification car as these usually have a lower insurance group rating and avoid any performance models e.g. GTI, SXI, Sport.
* Avoid any modifications (upgrades to enhance styling, audio or performance), not only are modified vehicles more attractive to car thieves, they tend to be more expensive to fix and can increase your level of risk and premium.
* Add a second driver (named driver) to the policy, over the age of 25 with a clean license. Parents are usually a good idea and with women being cheaper to insure than men, mums are usually best!
* Get a Pass Plus certificate. Lots of insurance companies offer discounts to new driver who participate in the scheme.
* Increase your voluntary excess. Choosing a higher voluntary excess when you take out your policy will reduce the price of your insurance policy.

On my previous post,on Low premiums for responsible young drivers i was talking about how great a suggestion by Director of AA Insurance,Simon Douglas about reducing responsible and good driving attitude to those qualified young drivers. It’s like a form of compensation in order to promote good driving for other young drivers. However, it just a suggestion, and of course insurance industries is a very competitive world.

But still there is some tips for those who needed a cheaper car insurance especially young drivers.Shop around - The Association of British Insurers says you can save 35 per cent by comparing as few as five insurance providers.

Buy online - Many car insurance providers offer discounts to customers that buy online.

Mileage limit - Consider a mileage limit or to only drive at certain hours of the day.

Car security - Make sure you have an alarm and immobiliser.

Smaller engine cars - A newer, more reliable car that is less likely to be used by ‘boy racers’ will have a cheaper premium. Aim to drive a car like this for at least two years after passing your test - and forget about turbo-charged cars, with big spoilers, fat tyres, alloy rims and other “sexy” extras.

Parents - If at all possible, avoid being added to a parent’s insurance policy. It prevents you from building up your own no-claims bonus. And if you are the main driver or registered keeper of the car, DO NOT insure it in your parents’ name and put yourself down as a named driver. This is known as “fronting” and in the event of an accident it could mean the claim is not paid. Moreover, the younger driver can be charged with driving without insurance.

Pass Plus - This is a certificate where a young driver who has already passed his or her driving test receives specific lessons in night, motorway and town traffic driving; achieving Pass Plus can earn significant discounts (as much as 35%) on your car insurance.

Hope this help you get a cheaper car insurance to look out for and to list down what we need to do and what don’t.It is not hard to get through with it if we stick to what our car insurer company wanted us to follow and adhere what they want from us as their customers. It’s going to be a win win situation, and everyone’s going to be happy.A lot of people were looking for the cheapest car insurance available online.Compared insurance quotes one to another, but still they didn’t see what car they are driving, what risk that they had to encountered which may leads to higher premium car insurance. But still if we jot down everything, list up all things needed to lower down our car insurance cost, there will be a realistic way to make it happened.

It was reported that more than 20% of young motorists who crash within a year of passing their test. That was a big number right? It is equal 100 young drivers who drive a car, more than 20 of them met an accident.

Director of AA Insurance,Simon Douglas, said car insurance companies should reward young motorists who drive carefully. They are doing the right thing being a young drivers, and they must had something as appreciation. At the same time, perhaps other young drivers can actually doing the same thing to get a clean car driving record.

This is what AA Insurance Director said:

“I believe the industry must work together to find a formula that recognises those who are able to demonstrate they take a responsible approach to driving,” Douglas said yesterday, speaking at a conference hosted by the Association of British Insurers.

It is normal and acceptable that young drivers face higher premiums because they’re more likely to cause an accident. In fact,a research done by AA Insurance concluded inexperienced drivers had tendency ten times more likely to be involved in a serious collision than their experienced counterparts.
However, those studies doesn’t mean that every young drivers were reckless while driving. There are some really a safe drivers.Simply put, good, safe drivers should be rewarded. The insurance industry no doubt can afford to provide incentives which also encourage responsible driving. It’s a win-win situation both for car insurer companies and drivers.
